Portrait Photography Preview

  1. The physical surroundings included in a portrait offer enormous potential to extend or enhance the communication. Choosing a suitable background or backdrop for the portrait can greatly influence the final design of the image.
  2. The student intending to create portraits is recommended to use their camera in either fully manual or aperture priority mode so that maximum control is maintained.
  3. Significant and informative details can be photographed with the subject. These details may naturally occur or be introduced for the specific purpose of strengthening the communication.
  4. The photographer should display an air of confidence and friendliness whilst directing subjects. Subjects will feel more comfortable if the photographer clearly indicates what is expected of them. Subjects may need guidance on how to sit or stand, what they should do with their hands and where to look.

Portrait Project

I feel like it could've looked a little more interesting but i like it. It makes you wonder about her and what she is like, she may be smiling in the picture but is that what she really is feeling? I think i did a good job on taking this portrait. It has good lighting but it could've been brighter but i think it looks good. The background isn't too plain but it also isn't distracting from Victoria. It conveys a happy emotion. She's is somewhat in the rule of thirds, i see simplicity, i filled the frame. So over all i think i covered most of things i need to cover during this photo shoot.

Portrait plan

I am going to shoot Victoria. I will be taking her pictures in the court yard. She wants to have trees in the background. I want the mood to be casual but still fun

  • With increased sensitivity, your camera sensor can capture images in low-light environments without having to use a flash.

  • When there is plenty of light, you should always use the lowest ISO, to retain the most detail and to have the highest image quality.
  • Set the ISO higher when theres not enough light, and also to be able to freeze motion
